FLEXA to debut new modular accessories for children’s bedrooms
FLEXA, a Danish company that specialises in modular children’s bed systems, will debut a range of painted accessories, at the September ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas, USA, and at the October High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina. The range includes ladder railings, storage cubes, table legs, dresser fronts, and new customizable armoires and lamps. Consumers will be able to purchase the items starting in January 2007.
In addition to its hedquarters in Hornsyld, Denmark, FLEXA also has a US office and factory in Suffolk, Virginia. The company has been making children’s furniture since 1972, when it was founded by Henning and Else Lykke Jensen.
“Starting in 2006 FLEXA gives parents lots of options with color. You can still get a very classic and clean look but now we’ve added accessories in pink and blue. It’s a way to help parents tie together a look they like,” says Peder Sorensen, president of FLEXA US.
Now FLEXA’s ladder railings and table legs are available in metal gray, pink or blue. Dresser fronts, storage cubes and a selection of other wooden accessories are available in natural, white and the new pink and blue.
For the new armoires, special plastic casings cover the armoire doors, so that the customer can slide decorative papers underneath. Consumers can choose one of FLEXA’s pink or blue patterned papers or their own magazine pictures, family photos, or other artwork. Lamp shades function the same way, with FLEXA’s removable shades that are easily customizable.
The most interesting thing about FLEXA is that their modular furniture can ‘grow’ with the children who use them. Their beds can be extended and combined with different legs, extension sections, ladders and rails.
The customer can build a modular furniture system using the storage units and beds that match each other. The company provide a “5-year supplementation guarantee”. This means that when a customer purchases a system, they can be sure that new units and accessories for it will be available for the next five years.
