DECi Becomes Tacton Reseller in Korea

Product sales configuration software supplier Tacton Systems, has announced that it is now cooperating with Digital Engineering Consulting, Inc. (DECi). Under the agreement, DECi will become a Tacton Configurator reseller in South Korea. Tacton says that the agreement shows how the company is expanding its commitment to strategic business partnerships within the PLM arena.

Digital Engineering Consulting, Inc. is a business partner of Dassault Systèmes Korea, providing specialist solutions, services and consulting within PLM, CAD, PDM, CAE and e-Manufacturing. DECI has experienced consultants and specialists, as well as an extended partnership network. The company focuses on providing optimal and complete solutions within the area of digital engineering.

“By partnering with Tacton Systems, DECi will maximize the benefits of PLM – all the way into the sales organization. We selected Tacton based on their reputation – a leading supplier of sales- and product configurators, with years of experience in developing valuable solutions for both consumers and the corporate enterprise,” says SeokHwan Choi, CEO at DECi.

“It makes a great deal of sense for us to enter into this agreement with DECi for two strategic reasons,” says Christer Wallberg, CEO for Tacton Systems. “First, it illustrates our overall strategy to leverage our reseller network, to deliver our Tacton Configurator to manufacturing enterprises in additional markets. It is also demonstrates the growing demand for sales- and product configurator solutions across the globe in fast growing markets such as Korea.”

Following a number of mergers and takeovers during 2005, Tacton is one of the few independent specialist configuration system suppliers. Tacton originated at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS) in 1992, preceded by many years of configuration application and state-of-the-art research in knowledge-based systems. The first research version was applied in various example applications, including low-voltage switchgear, personal computers, telecom software, combat management systems, and radio-base stations for cellular phones. The first commercial deployment was in 1997 at Ericsson. Tacton Systems was founded March 1998 as a spin-off of SICS to further commercialize the successful Tacton Configurator configuration technology.
