Donal Reddington on mass customization, crowdsourcing and digital manufacturing

Geomagic Opens Japan Office

Geomagic has opened its first branch office in Tokyo.

The Geomagic Japan office was established in response to the increasing demand for Geomagic solutions in Japanese design, engineering, inspection and manufacturing organizations, including automotive, industrial and consumer manufacturers. It will provide enhanced service and support to Japanese automotive and electronics customers such as Toyota, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Nissan, Mazda and Toshiba. Geomagic resellers and measurement systems partners in Japan will now receive collaborative customer-focused sales support and local technical support.

Geomagic software enables engineers and designers to transform scan data from physical objects into highly accurate digital models for applications ranging from digital shape reconstruction for mass customization, reverse engineering and computer aided inspection.

“Our Japanese customers recognize the positive impact the Geomagic solution brings to their design and inspection needs,” says Jim Johnson, vice president of sales for Geomagic. “Establishing this office demonstrates our commitment to Japan industrial markets and manufacturing customers and supports our objective to increase customer’s competitive advantage with Geomagic products.”

The Tokyo branch joins other Geomagic offices in China, Singapore, Germany and Hungary.

Geomagic CEO Ping Fu was named as Inc. Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year for 2005.
