The Rimage 360i Desktop CD/DVD Publishing System (Photo: Rimage Corporation)
2005-03-11 - Hannover, Germany: CD and DVD publishing systems specialist Rimage Corporation (Nasdaq:RIMG), has launched an important new addition to its Desktop product line, the Rimage 360i CD/DVD publishing system, at the CeBIT trade show in Hannover, Germany. Initial shipments are expected to start in May 2005.
The system's Rimage-developed software is wizard-based, making operation intuitive and easy to use even for untrained users. Creating a disc with customized content and labeling on an on-demand basis requires only four clicks on the customer's keyboard. The system has potential for use by publishers who want to offer low cost custom CD/DVD writing facilities. The Rimage 360i would enable a media company to offer a DVD containing only modules of content chosen by the customer, and be able to write and label the product in quantities as low as one.
The Rimage 360i is optimized for both CD and DVD recording. The new CD/DVD recorder technology delivers 16X DVD recording as well as 48X CD recording. Users no longer have to choose between recorder types or suffer compromised performance. The Rimage 360i delivers maximized disc creation with both DVDs and CDs.
The 360i incorporates HP's most advanced thermal inkjet printer engine, resulting in vivid color, sharply-defined text and photo-realistic images at an economical cost.
As a true plug-and-play unit, the Rimage 360i is easy to setup and install. In addition it has a small physical footprint (H: 19", W: 15 1/4", D: 20"), making it ideal for desktop use or any location where space is limited. As an aesthetically pleasing product, it is designed to fit perfectly into any office environment.
With a list price in the mid-$2,000 range, Rimage state that the 360i provides users with the lowest lifetime cost of ownership in the CD/DVD desktop publishing industry, based on the printed cost per disc calculation.
Manny Almeida, executive vice president, commented: "The Rimage 360i is clearly a best in class product, given its low cost of ownership, intuitive software, overall ease of use and superior disc label print quality. These key features were developed by listening to the needs of customers and then applying our industry-leading core competencies in engineering and software development. The result is a totally new, technologically advanced CD/DVD publishing system that will, we believe, make the Rimage 360i the ideal solution for many lower volume market applications."
Rimage is focusing its CD/DVD publishing solutions on a set of vertical markets with special needs for customized, on-demand digital information: digital photography, medical imaging, financial institutions, business offices, and government.
The Rimage 360i can be viewed and demonstrated at CeBIT Booth Number B38 in Hall 20, March 10-16, 2005.
