Firepond OnDemand Certified for Salesforce.com's Appforce

2005-10-27: Firepond OnDemand, the on demand product configuration solution of Firepond Inc. has been certified for use with Salesforce.com's Appforce.

Firepond OnDemand adds the ability to configure products and services of any complexity, accurately price those products, apply discounts, charges, and fees to prepare a quotation, and then create a quality proposal in PDF, RTF or HTML format. Quote data can be passed back to Salesforce for use in other areas such as reports, forecasting and analytics. Firepond OnDemand is now integrated with salesforce.com via the Appforce on-demand platform, and immediately available to Salesforce.com customers.

Salesforce.com, based in San Franscisco, manages customer information for approximately 16,900 customers and approximately 308,000 paying subscribers. It almost single-handedly revived the application service provider (ASP) business model, which had been previously considered the poor relation to full software implementation. Salesforce.com's Appforce is platform for on-demand CRM systems that includes Appforce Builder, Appforce DB, Appforce API and the Appforce OS for development & deployment of multiple on-demand applications. It allows customers to customize and integrate the Salesforce family to meet their unique business needs, and build new powerful applications. Appforce applications are available via AppExchange, salesforce.com's on-demand application sharing service. Appforce certification indicates a partner has passed salesforce.com's rigorous testing standards. Additionally, all certified partner solutions have at least three customer references.

"Salesforce.com provides a complete customer relationship management (CRM) suite for companies of all sizes. The complementary Firepond OnDemand solution provides time-with-the-customer tasks such as product configuration, quote creation and proposal generation," said Adam Gross, Director of Product Marketing, salesforce.com. "Firepond OnDemand was among the applications featured in the unveiling of AppExchange at Dreamforce '05 earlier this month and was enthusiastically received by the attendees."

Firepond, headquartered in Minnesota, USA, is one of the few remaining dedicated customer relationship solution specialist software houses. A number of other companies in the same sector have been bought out by or merged with back-office solution providers. Their newest product, CPQ(TM) OnDemand, provides product configuration technology to companies of almost any size.
